Aggression
& Reactivity
Behavior Change Training Packages
What does it look like? Behaviors associated with aggression or reactivity can present in many ways including barking, growling, lunging, snarling, snapping, biting and more.
What will we do? First, we need to identify WHY the behavior is occurring, and treat the underlying root cause(s), not just the symptoms. We’ll discuss your past & present observations, your dog’s medical and behavioral history and more. We’ll even discuss how genetics and where your dog came from can impact behavior in the short and long term.
We will develop a Safety & Managment Plan and a reward-based Behavior Change Training Plan. Behavior Change Plans are tailored to each individual dog & family, and focus on treating the root cause(s) of the concerns, training incompatible behaviors and reinforcing behavior you want.
How long will it take?
It depends! Every dog and family is unique, and progress depends on a variety of factors including how long the behavior has presented, severity of the behavior (including bite history), early learning, your lifestyle and preferences, how much available time you have and more. I never oversell and training plans are set up to give you the best chance at achieving your goals in the shortest amount of time possible. However, just like with people, behavior change takes time, commitment and an investment of energy and resources. Some general recommendations and timeframes are listed below for getting started.
4-6 sessions - For dogs exhibiting mild behavior in response to a single stimulus, dogs with lower level bites or no bite history, young dogs, when the behavior is easily predicted and/or when the family is experienced in treating fear, aggression or anxiety using reward based methods and equipment.
8-10 sessions - *These larger packages are discounted. For dogs exhibiting moderate to extreme behavior in response to one or more stimuli (for example, if your dog stuggles with stranger dogs and people), dogs who have caused injury to other dogs or people, older dogs, when the behavior is harder to predict or when the family is inexperienced. Larger packages are also frequently recommended for more complex concerns like conflict within multi-dog households, resource guarding concerns, and for any aggression in a home with children.

Day training is an option on an individual basis. This is a faster and effective option for some dogs but not all. I will train your dog while you are at work, etc. and then transfer to you the skills your dog has learned at the end of each week!
Motivational and emotional support throughout your training package. While much of my education is for dogs, I also really love humans and will be with you every step of the way. I know how hard this can be and have been there myself!
